carb guys, help
Hey guys....i just bought a 1988 FC that i know very little about. my question is.....at idle one of the two intakes on the aftermarket Mikuni carb sucks in alot less air than the other one, is this because its a 6 port and how it has that thing that opens the extra 2 ports at a certain RPM? or could there be somthing wrong? the car seems to pull strong through the RPMs though. Any info would be great.
Thanks Cyrus

You should have asked the 1st gen guys this, most of them probably know more about carbs than 2nd gen guys. I have a little experience with carbs, mostly from stock first gens (Nikki)
That "thing" that opens the aux. intake ports is exhaust backpressure. Id remove the sleeves, or wire them open.
Also, SEARCH!! You will learn a great deal about RX7s from this site.

The stock Nikki carb and a Mikuni carb are totally different carbs not that the 1st gen guys couldn't help you because many of them probably run a similiar setup like yours. Any idea how long its been since the carb was rebuilt? They do wear out eventually and start developing small vacuum leaks which makes it hard/impossible to tune properly.

Ya im pretty sure the carbs need rebuilding, but it dosnt make sence to me why one of the intake barrels sucks in so much less air than the other one. ok, lets say the carbs need rebuilding how do you rebuild a mikuni, what does it consist of.
Thanks Cyrus
