is this car worth $6500?
I'm not really sure if it's worth the asking price of $6500. It has low miles and has supposidly been always garaged, only 1 ding in the drivers door, no rust, all stock.
what do you guys think? I've never priced out a 2nd gen before...

Keep in mind this car is probably in better shape then your average 2nd gens, interior is mint, no cracked dash or torn or faded seats or anything, the top is in great shape, etc. It's a car I can buy and not have to do anything to get it perfect. Can you guys who have paid less say that? I have plenty of other stuff to keep me busy without having to wrench on my street car to get it running the way I want.
I really don't want a TII or an FD, it's not that I can't afford one, it's just that I want a convertable and I would like it to have a rotary engine. Unfortunately my choices are fairly limited...

No really, 3K for a clean vert is not too bad. After paying $680+rebuild+new top+new leather seats+paint. I'll have about $25-$2800 into the car and that's just going back stock. AND I have to do all the labor!! Even if you get a Rex given to you after you get it all back to really good condition you've spent 3k easily. That's with any little beater car.....Supra, Celica, Honda, 300ZX...etc. All this is considering that your not driving some old piece of ****, multi colored looking Rex.

One more thing that i would add.
With Rotaries the way they are, low mileage means ****. The seals dry up and crack to pieces. I would scuff at any body that told me a Rex didn't need a rebuild under the conditions listed by the original poster. I would be leary of the motor.

Just because it says $6,500 doesn't mean it IS $6,500. You always can offer less, honestly IMO I think either you should get a S4 vert for cheaper or wait. **** I think Lander's vert with a fresh turbo engine/rebuild went for somewhere around $8,000. That's only a little bit more (and plus it was owned by a l337 mechanic).
Anyhow he won't sell it for that price unless he owns up on some n00b looking for a vert. So just wait and let it go down, if he sells it, just find another.
PS: Landers, Im done sucking up.

Rember guys it also depends how common they are in your state/ city.. here in Socal I see at least 3-5 verts a day.. and most S5 sell for 2k.. but if your someplace where you never see them.. price is always going to be higher.. But if 6k seems worth it to you, then go for it.. its your money.. do with it as you wish.

I want an s5 vert, the s4's just arent as nice. and obviously i'll offer less then 6500, but i can't offer the guy 3k if he is asking 6500.
I'm probably just as 1337 as this Lander guy (if not more 1337), and I'm pretty sure I could put a TII motor in this car for 2K if I wanted, which would make it worth 8k.
They are faily rare in GA, but I would also like to be able to get some money back out of it when I decide to sell it. I think for 5k i would buy it no questions asked, but more then that I begin to question.
I haven't even seen it yet, but I'll check it out tonight and probably make the guy an offer. if it's anything less then amazing i'm not paying close to 6.5k...

Think what convertible can be had for $6000. Maybe a Mustang, if a GT, probably beat on.
I think $5500/$6000 would be a decent price providing no work needs to be done with the car. Tires, exhaust, clutch, interior all in great condition.
People that mention getting a S5 convert for $2/3,000 aren't going to find one in this condition, and chances are they will go through a lot of money and aggrevation.
