Car won't start-need your help.....

I bought my 88 RX-7 convertible last November and only drove it a few days before garaging it for the winter. When I got it out this spring, it seemed to run fine. Then about 2 months later the problem started.

The engine would lose all power and it wouldn't hold idle. At first it was very sproadic, now it is happening with increasing frequency. If you try to rev the engine during this time the RPM would slowly climb, but it sounded like a lawn mower.

First we did a full tune up with new plugs. Next we tried redoing the grounds. Lastly we replaced the injectors. Since replacing the injectors, the car won't start.

The car is stock with the exception of a intake. Any ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

have you pulled the spark plugs since the no-start after injector replacement? Wet? Dry?

We pulled one of the plugs last night and it was dry. It had a very faint smell of gas, like it is a fuel starvation issue.

We haven't checked the compression since we did the tune up. I don't remember the numbers but both rotors checked out fine. It's a low mileage, original motor. It just turned 90K and I would guess it had 89 and change on it when we did the tune up.

There is a rubber fuel line hose coming out of the fuel filter where one end connects to the fuel filter and the other end connects to the engine via a hard line hose. Disconnect the hose to the hard line and place it into an empty jug and either try to start the car briefly or jumper the fuel check connector and then turn the key to on and under either situation fuel should pour into the empty jug to prove the fuel pump is indeed pumping although it won't tell you what the fuel pressure is. This should help to narrow down your problem.

Update

We have tried all possible things, had the injectors cleaned, checked the fuel pump and filter, compression test, spare ecu, maf and map sensors, and had no luck. It looks like it is going to the shop and we are going to open up the wiring harness to see if there is a short causing the injectors to malfunction. Thanks for all of the suggestions and I'll keep you posted once we find out what's going on.

ITS ALIVE!!!

It started today and kept idle. It even revved freely. After trying everything under the sun, I removed the entire exhaust system to install the Racing Beat true dual setup. I guess the cat was clogged up. We are going to finish putting everything back together on Monday. I'll repost with another update after putting a few miles on it. Thanks again for all of the help and suggestions.

Another update.

I took the car out last night to see how it runs. Well the original issue of running on just one rotor is fixed, but now it has the 3800 RPM hesitation. This is odd that it never had this symptom before but now it does. I plan to spend some time this weekend to go over the grounding and see if that fixes the problem.

No luck so far with solving the hesitation but we opened up the cat and it was definately clogged.

So far on the hesitation I have regrounded the ECU, the battery, and the point on the back of the engine under the UIM. Any other places I should look?

Did you end up regrounding 4 wires at the ECU? You could try simulating load which is necessary for the secondaries to fire by removing the vacuum hose to the Pressure sensor, plugging the hose, and unplugging the TPS and take the car for a ride or just rev it in the driveway.
