it looks a lot like my shift boot! Do you mind if I take those pictures and put them in a short how-to in HTML form so if someone else asks we can just point them to the url?

If I had known, I would have taken a little more time taking pics. I just ran out and snapped those. Oh well. Yeah post that URL so when the question gets asked we can provide a link..

Thanks!

Disregard my last post. I had forgotten that the pwr windows for the 2nd gens are in the doors and not in the consols like the 1st gens.

But, I'd still like to put the switch in another location. I've got a little nephew that I take for a ride sometimes and I want to avoid him saying" Hey, Uncle Jim, what's this do 'click'", and the car sputters and dies.

If you are referring to the "box" with the red circle around it in the last picture posted, that it that back side of the switch.

right ok then - its a very informative explanation but

1 - what does the black / white wire do - is it an earth wire or what ?
2 - can you check it somehow so you know its the right one - prior to cutting !! ?
3 - you used 3 wires - why did it need an earth ?
4 - Where does the power come from for the light ?
5 - I assume that you can use any old switch ? - or does it need to handle xx volts ?

and ....errrr , no thats it for now !!

thanks

G.
