When was the last time the pan filter was changed? What happens if you shift into second? I would presume that junk in the valve body could cause it to behave like it is. Also, a bad oil pump in the tranny could cause it as well. I have an auto in mine and it sucks the big banana.

1. When checking your fluid, are you doing it right? A.K.A. Warm car, running, and running from Park to 1 back to Park before checking?

2. Is the fluid more than maybe a 1/4" above the full? If so it needs to be drained a little.

3. Does the fluid smell burnt? If so it needs a change?

4. Has the fluid been changed (to your knowledge)? If not, or don't know, then the filter, fluid, and pan gasket need to be changed.

5. Look in the FSM for how tight the transmission bolts need to be (I am not 100% sure how it works in the auto for this car as I only saw one bolt that I can remember). When the pan and gasket are off make sure that it is at the correct tightness.

6. If the others are not it, the transmission may need to be rebuild. Though I have never had an auto rebuilt, not sure how they go about it lol

You can also do a band adjustment on it.

Also, you could....do a 5 speed swap!

if you do the band adjustment mind sending me a message on the lb per in and where the bolts are or is it just the one inside the pan? It was the only thing I was dumbfounded about w/ when I changed my auto fluids lol I expected 3 or 4 bolt spots but nope just one (also expected a magnet in my pan but that wasnt there either)

Dude mine does the same thing and has a rebuillt trans with only like 600 miles on it. It sat for like 3 years though. If you figure out what is wrong with yours let me know it may be the same thing as mine. I think I'm just going 5 speed though.

Search for tranny swap. You;ll find out the prices and what you need. It's not only the tranny, you need a hell lot of other stuff too.

If you get used pars, not too bad. This is just a random guess, but ~$300.

It seems like a pretty straight forward swap. I plan on doing it next month so I'll let ya know how it goes.
