Car won't idle. Please help.
My problem is this, my car has been sitting for awhie now, when i start my car it likes to keep reving up to redline.
So I checked my throttle cable it's ok. I'm thinking it has to do with my t/b settings?
Could it be a vac leak or something because it's been sitting, or does the ecu need to be reset or something. My goal is to get it to ideal properly, if someone could help me out with this problem that would be great thanks

First check all the throttle plates to make sure none of them are stuck. If the car has been sitting, corrosion is common.
Next, check for vacuum leaks. Generally this doesn't cause the car to rev to redline.
Are you sure it's just not revving to 3K? It's supposed to do that.
If the throttle plates are not stuck open, you have to start looking for weird problems like a BAC or ASV valve that is seized open.

I checked all the plates and there fine, they seem to be opening ok, but my dash lights and gauges aren't working? would that be because maybe the main fuse is fried, or is it because my oil thermo sensor wire has snapped in half?
thanks

This happened to me. BUT, it was my fault. This is on a T2. Taking off the Throttle Body one time, I bent the metal support for the 3 vac lines that are connected to it coming out from the throttle body. It is right next to the TPS. I bent it in torwards the throttle body on accident. When I would start the car, the throttle would open, but stick on the way back causing my car to jump up in idle very quick. I noticed the Oil Metering Pump return was getting caught on the metal vac line support. I bent it back, and and no problem. Wish I had a pic to show you.
