Just the latest in the joys of RX-7 ownership...

The car was making an odd honking or moaning noise when warmed up at idle, and would sometimes die after stopping at a stop sign.

Now when I start the car, it revs to 3-4k rpm, then when I touch the gas pedal it winds down and dies. It will now not idle.

Looks like I have some sort of vacuum leak or sensor out of adjustment. I have seen several similar posts, but I have a non-turbo 1986 GXL. None of the posts seem to apply.

Welcome to ideas or troubleshooting tips. Where do I start looking for the culprit since I cannot get the car to idle while the hood is up for me to get in there and check out where a leak may be.
