Question Car Wont Go Over 2500 rpm

Im looking at buying this 1986 RX-7 it has 96000 miles on it. The guy says that the car runs and drives but the car wont go over 2500 rpms if you try to go over that it just drops down. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?
Thanks for your time.

My guess (remember it's a guess)would be the trailing coil pack/igniter. But honestly I just wouldn't buy it. It could a bunch of different things.

If it's got the original engine it could be about time for a new one too.

I'm no way a mechanic - note my name.
