Car will barely start but dies as soon as i press the gas
Background: 86 na no mods.
ive had a strange problem for the last few weeks. I was leaving work one day when all of a sudden i get stopped by a red light, and when i try to go, i have no power, like 1/3 the normal power that the car has, (have to mash the gas to make it move). Then i get to the next light and the car dies. Cannot get it started for the life of me. So i get it towed home, and ive checked compression, (I110 and 120 psi) switched out the maf, vaccuum leaks, fuses, relays, fuel pump, tps. We got it started finally, but it runs like ****, idles at like 400 rpms, and as soon as i give it any gas it dies. Im not sure what else to check this point. Has anyone else experience this kinda problem before? Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Is the computer throwing any codes? I had this problem, and in the end, I think it may have been bad wires to the AFM. I'm not sure about your 86, but my 90 threw a code indicating a bad connection.

How's that in-tank fuel filter look? And the main filter, for that matter. Also check the water thermo sensor. Better yet, look at page 4A-30 or so of the FSM and read out ALL the ECU inputs with the key on (and at idle if you can get that far)...
