car turns over but no start...

heres the deal. had a bad engine but still ran. swapped it out with another rebuilt engine and hooked everything back up like it was, it cranks but wont start. it almost started a few times but wont commit. we tried messing with the ingition coils. we switched em out of another car and gave it a try and still nothing. we tested the coils and it read fine on the ohm meter. we exchanged the crank angle sensor from the other engine and still nothing. we tried messing with it and adjusting it.. nada. any input or advice anyone can give is much appreciated. maybe some simple step we forgot in the swap? anything.. thanks.

I'd say, re-stab the CAS, make sure your fuel lines arent crossed and get a inline spark tester in there...

heres what i did to get mine running. If this doesnt work, you might try changing your fuel pump and checking your filter. Put some gas in a water bottle, put a small hole in the top. Take the air intake off, spray fuel in it. Hit the key. If it doesnt light, no spark. If it starts and dies, (and you didnt put the intake hose back on) thats normal, it wont run without it. If you put the intake back on, it should run till it doesnt have any more gas to burn.

If the car doesnt stay running, and you know you have fuel in the line, try it a couple more times, see if it picks up any. It should eventually stay lit, unless its not getting past the filter, or the pump is bad. hope it helps you.

aside from gas, you could also use Aether. That would get it started in a heart beat. but then the issue with your fuel again.

so is this engine a fresh rebuild? you mentioned that you're putting in another rebuilt engine. sometimes it takes a bit to fire up a freshly built engine. need to build up alittle bit of compression.
make sure you have gas and spark as it was suggested to you. see if the spark plugs are drenched in gas. if it is then you need to clean them up and make sure the engine is not flooded.
pull out the fuse for the fi and have your friend start it, then put the fuse back in while it's cranking and see if that helps.

Standard De-Flooding procedure:

Pull the EGI Comp. fuse from the fuse block in the engine bay, on the driver's side.
Get in, push the clutch in (Less strain on the starter) and let the starter crank for a good 20 seconds.
Get out, put the fuse back in, get back in and attempt to start it.
