Exclamation Car suddenly won't start!?

I know there have been a hundred posts with a title like this. I search and found a few possibilies. Here's the story: just bought the car from and RX-7 mechanic 4 days ago, drove it home (45minutes) and have drivin it around the block every day sense for about 5-10 minutes. Everything's been great minus the heat cutting off which I'm taking it back for. I've only drivin it around the block cause I've had no insurance/tag and my license is suspended till this tuesday(2/22/05). Yesterday I popped the headlights up and looked under the hood to figure out how to replace the bulbs for when I put whiter/bluer ones in. Went out today to start her and drive her but its completely dead. Makes the usualy alarm sounds when the doors open and locked from insaid, when I turn the key it makes a faint noise, turn it again to ignition and nothing, not even the dome light'll come on. I'll charge it later tonight when I have a vehicle. Could I have fucked up the head light and make it think its not all the way down? I didn't even dissconnect the bulb. The alternator? I'll call the mechanici I bought it from also but he's not there till late also. Suggestions? Don't thrash me, I'm worried and did search. Thanks.

I'd start by guessing you have a dead or disconnected battery

Edit: Also, you cant change just the bulbs, you have to actually buy the whole light. I reccomend Silvania Silverstars, I've got 'em and I love 'em.

Haha thanks for adding that, I'd eventually figure that out.

And yeah, I figured it was dead, but why? I know your not psycic, but it shouldn't have died unless maybe the alternator is sucking it dry. I'll have to get it checked out tuesday. I have a replacement battery and jump on the way.

Doesn't help my car though, anyone? I'll post more later after I've tried a few things.

Okay, just charged the car and ran it around the block fine. Anything else I should do now? I'll try to get the alternator checked tuesday if this keeps up. Could it just be a fluke or low/bad battery that I bought with the car? Thanks for any help/advice.

Are you sure it's dead? I had a similer problem on a old car a while back. Turned out to be the positive battery cable. It wouldnt keep good contact. Take your cables and sand down the contacts. Maybe that'll be it. Also, tighten it on well.

Okay, just got off the phone with the mechanic I bought it from. He said the alternator is stock and they were weak, I'll get it check along with the battery which he said was older. I have a new battery coming tomarrow and will put that in after I get the alternator and orig. bat. checked and if it still drains, they he said it could be the CD player that's in there. It glows a little when the cars off, it maybe be taking juice. I'll see him on tuesday or wedsnday.

Thank you White87FC for the help so far, you seem to be the only one willing to.

the battery could be gone out, charge the battery and run the car for about 30 minutes without the lights or any other draws on it, shut the engine off and then try to restart the car a few times right after you shut it off, if it won't start or cranks slow then you either have a bad connection at the battery or the battery is likely dead.

the stock charging system is weak but with no draws on the system it should still charge just fine. sounds like either it is a draw from a lamp staying on, alarm, or a load somewhere or the battery is just plain bad.

turn on the headlights before you start the car, if they get brighter after the engine starts then the charging system is doing it's job but how well can only be said by doing tests on it.

Thank you, thats helpful. The alarm does seem a bid wierd and I have been trying to make it go off... I'm assuming of course it has one the little beeps when the car's locked aren't just to make me feel safe hahaha... actually I wouldn't be supprised. I'll try some things tomarrow.

Okay so car's doing well, after pulling fuses and watching for amp or volt spikes, disconecting the alarm we figured out it was the cd player. Its all good now. Plus resoddered the cold/heat swicth box thing. Yeah, I know, real technical. Thanks for trying to help all.
