I donno wtf is going on. suddenly i couldnt shift out of reverse. i donno if this has anything to do with it, but ive been shifting with the bottom of the stick instead of the top cuz i JB welded my shiftnob onto the stick because it was always twisting around and ****, so i was giving it a chance to dry. I donno why this would have anything to do with it, but whatever. I ground 3rd gear sometimes since i had the tranny in (got it used from kevin landers.. he said it was untested so its ok) but it seemed to work fine other than that. What could it be? Im pretty upset that my car only goes in reverse now

 

note* and the stick wont go into the actual reverse position, it will go everywhere else, but no matter where it is, its in reverse.

 

This happened on my '89 GXL. Exact same situation that you are describing. After talking to a few people and a couple of transmission shops, the general consensus says that it is roll pin in the transmission preventing it from going into any other gear. Also the reason that it is locked in reverse. I ended up replacing the transmission with another used one because I did not have the time to fool with it.

DAMMIT, this is most displeasing. I might as well replace it with a T2 Tranny. Which means I need to replace the driveshaft clutch and flywheel to doesnt it? Are T2 and NA Differentials interchangable?
Sucks that I have to spend so much money, but I guess It was coming anyways.
