best buy

I just bought a bonez 2.5'' racing pipe. I am now looking for a cat-back system with good sound and HP gain. I want to spend about under $500.00 and keep it dual. What is a good system to buy?

First of all you will loose your auxilary port actuation if you are putting in on that 87 N/a in your profile. Second if you need cheap go with "borla" for a cool 100 or so more you can have Racing Beat which is the KING of exhausts

Santiago

PS- unless you have a massive turbo and need more flow

i'm from tx but i can't remeber if there are emmisions or not. but if not then just get a down pipe with no cats at all and i think that you could do some silencers also not to sure though. mine sounds great but i have no cats with a strait pipe to a glass pack(i think) then to the y then to the mufflers.

Covered hundreds of times before (search). But the short story is massive (around 30HP) HP loss above 4K.

That is...30HP if they're closed assuming you just keep them closed that's what he means . Opening them is a different story in which you lose power on the low end...which is still bad but a much better sacrifice if you do make on at all. Choose wisely (hint...keep them working even if you use an air pump and rpm switch) .

Racing Beat..... there simply is no substitute!!!!!!

You can get the six ports working again with a summit RPM switch, a solenoid, and some plumbing parts. (do a search you will find it)

I'm selling two RB mufflers in the parts section.

inquire as to why the price is that way, they'll probably match it.

whats this talk about about losing the secondary ports?

the 2 1/2" dp shouldn't cause him to lose his aux ports
same thing with a cat back

right now my setup is a RB header with 2" pipes off the block into a 2 1/2 inch pipe

then it goes to my stock rusted out non existant mufflers

my 6ports open
why wouldn't his?

Cat back

The Borla is a nice system and sounds low base. It also doesn't make your car look like its got a bad case of Hemrroids like the Racing Beat and the other more expensive muffler cans do.

If you shop around you can get the system for around $415 to $425 shipped.

If you know anything about how S4 auxilary ports work you would know why a "race pipe" i.e. a straight pipe would make his ports and anyone elses ports non-functional. Do some research and find the answer for yourself.

by race pipe you refer to a little 2 1/2 inch pipe comming off the stock exhuast manifold into a pre silecner or far enough back to the cat back right?

what would the difference be between this and my header system into a straight pipe going to the cat back? and why is it if this straight pipe is supposed to prevent the 6pi from working why do mine still work? and no I'm not using the RB pre silencer but rather a straight pipe in it's place

as far as how the 6pi work it is based on exhuast backpressure (which mine is still setup to run off of) and once it reaches the right amount of pressure to overcome the actuators they open up.

so I know a little about how the 6pi works but still it doesn't answer my question as mine work and I have seen others work

ok I am going with the borla cat-back system. I found it for $400.00 shipped. As for the race pipe it is the bonez 2.5'' race pipe from rx7.com and from looking at other threads they say it come with the hookup for the ports. I hope this is true but Ill see when it gets here.
