Car stored for 3 months...

... and I want to start it. I parked it, left it without much preparation. Wasn't the best option but I didn't expect to have it sitting for this long. Is there anything I SHOULD do to make sure my baby is not hurt when I start it?

PS. I read the storage FAQs already, but they say winter / 6 months. I'm just wondering if 3 months is okay. Cheers.

Should be fine, idk how long it takes for gas to go bad but I'm pretty sure its longer then 3 months, check the fluids like oil n such then run her for a bit, don't drive the car hard right away.

I would still change the oil if it sat for 3 months. Make sure your battery is fully charged too. And of course tire pressure.

Three months should be fine, but I'd still suggest getting some oil into the spark plug holes to lubricate the engine the first time it's turned over. There could very well be light surface rust on sealing surfaces and the oil will prevent it from becoming sandpaper.

Thanks for the replies guys. Here's an update:

I went to fire it up today and I figured the battery would be dead (which it was) so I had it charged yesterday. Still nothing... so I guess I'll need a new battery. Anyways, to the point... it fired up after a jump start and ran great... so we let it idle to 'wake up' from its hibernation.

5 mins into it, I had to shut 'er down because we noticed some steam coming out of the reservoir and noticed that the temp gauge was at 75%. What do you guys think, stuck thermostat?

Could be. If the rad remained cold, the thermostat is stuck.

In the future, avoid the battery problem by disconnecting it and bringing it inside.
