Question car starving for fuel...

when i go around a corner at a quarter of a tank, my car starves for gas, i know its a notorious problem, and heard through the grapevine about a relocation of the sender in the tank. anyone know what the hell im talking about, and/or know how to do it?

i think all u would have to do is pull the pump and give it a good bending in the right direction

Sender unit? What the heck does that have to do with starving for gas?

Check/clean your in-tank filter sock at the bottom of the pump assy

what i was told is tha the location of the sensor in the talk, is like 1/4 of the way up it, so when the gas sloshes, it doesnt sense any fuel, and starves the motor, giving me that pulsation of the throttle. this is extremely frustrating when im TRYING to drift...

I never heard of the sensor controling the pump, I thought it just told you your fuel level.

I would have figure the pulsation is from the pump sucking air and fuel?

has anyone experienced it? it really sucks. i cant turn a corner over like 20 mph w/o the car almost dying in the middle of it. i have the car off the road for the winter, and NEED to fix this problem. it makes it look like im a shitty driver (not cool!). so prolly drop the tank, clean the hell outta it, and the pumps and ****, and then go from there, huh?

listen, there is no sensor that tells the fuel pump to turn on or off, unless u have a cut off switch. take waynes advice and clean(replace) the sock. You cant fix a problem if that problem doesnt exist. That sensor next to your fuel pump only is the gas gauge and low fuel light. come on people.

I've experianced the same problem. I'd floor it around a corner in first or second and it cuts out and I'd get like 10% of the power I had a second ago. It's the "sock" on the fuel pump. At first I thought it was slosh, but it got progressivly worse untill it happend with 3/4 of a tank of gas. Just replace it. Trust me, that fixed my problem.

It seems that the problem is that the mesh on the in tank filter gets clogged up and then when you go around the corner, the G forces cause the screen to collapse in on the intake to the pump and all of a sudden you have less fuel and less power. You can clean it, but it's best to replace it.

Pulsation at throtthle huh?

Definately could be the TPS. BTW, stop listening to the grapevine, your source is malinfomred.

It could however just be the fuel pump sock is getting clogged. Or the actual fuel filter...

You can't afford a widebody kit. They're well over $1000 for just the fenders, then you need to mold them to the body (well rear anyways) and paint it. So for just the fenders you're looking at over $2000 easy (tha't assuming you want it to look nice and get half descent paint etc). For a full kit with bumbers, fenders, sideskirts etc, it'll be much more. My favorite kit is the Mariah Mode Six, and it's $4600 for the kit alone, plus shipping, plus bodywork, plus paint so it'd be like $6000 easy.

You can get some stick on "flares" but it won't allow you to run wider tires and they're ugly IMHO.
