Car starts, idles for a second, then dies unless gas is applied

Hey everyone. Car is an 86 gxl. It starts every time, but it won't stay running. It rev's to 2 or 3k, then the rpm's just drop til it dies. It will keep going though if you keep on the gas, and my dad says that it will stay running once its warmed up w/out keeping on the gas. I figure there is something messed up with the throttle body, where should we start? Thanks.

Either a huge vacuum leak, or a bad/unplugged AFM. Or both.

It's the AFM, my AFM was bad and it acted the same way. Just do the resistance checks from the FSM to verify it before you go on a wild goose chase(vac leak hunt). If you don't have a FSM just look at the one on iluvmyrx7.com.
