Car Starts And Dies!

Please help me guys,
A friend and myself just finished changing fuel lines and cleaning the injectors on his N/A and now the car starts, revs up and dies within 3 seconds. We're also getting a high fuel smell and the pulsation dampener appears to leak when we try to start the car.... but i held the screw down with something and the car still doesnt run, any ideas and all ideas are appreciated... also we dont yet have a new manifold gasket in place, might that be the culprit? thanks

Check the air flow meter, and also check for vacuum leaks. But, before you even bother starting it, replace/remove that PD before the thing burns to the ground.

Really? Usually when I have them crossed it won't even fire up, be interesting to know that, one more thing to troubleshoot when helping others.

thanks for the quick replies... keep em comin... wait so a slight leak at the injector o-rings would cause such a large vacuum issue? how much are the rings from the dealer or/and where else might i obtain them for a good price, and also where do you guys recommend i get the PD?

to rule things out.. the fuel lines are NOT crossed.

possibilities... my friend leveled with me that he got a little violent with the air meter connector and ripped the connectors off the board inside, then "repaired" it... please dont immediately assume its this but just let me know if i would be better off finding him a new AM.

yep exactly, this sort of indicates that the afm that your friend repaired, is still fucked most likely due to the similar symptoms your having. In the meantime, I'd order a used one off the boards for the hell of it, and continue with your troubleshooting.
doesnt hurt to have an extra 20$ afm
