Car starts, but won't stay on
Car starts, but won't stay on
Today I took the intake manifold off to replace all of the vacuum hoses. I notice my primary inj. were loose so i tighten them. I've been having trouble getting it to start. I would have to push into the gas pedal to start it. I after replacing everything making sure everything is connected, checked the timing and everything. It started like new w/o the gas pedal the only problem is it won't stay on. Runs for about 10 seconds then dies, unless i keep the rpms u by giving it some gas. what could be the problem?
ok so i checked all hoses for leaks its all good. the afm is connected new plugs i'm getting sparks. I have no idea and its really frustrating. My car won't start up anymore. it cranks, but nothing i've tried just about everything i could think of. please help me out. 1988 gtu 13b non turbo

I know of 2 Massive vacuum hose locations that should have hoses plugged in.
One is driver's side about where the Colored solenoids are,a bit towards the back.It is sort of hidden. In that area is where Air temp sensor is. It faces the Drivers side shock tower. It is used for the PCV(black bell looking thing).
Another vacuum hose connection is plainly visible, and that is the Brake vacuum line, which is at the Passenger engine rear corner, and the rubber S shaped hose hooks up to a steel line on the firewall and runs over to the Brake booster.
I'm stating this Because they could really Play into starting up the car if not hooked up.(either it would not start or it would run like crap)

Don't just throw parts at it.
The most obvious thing that comes to mind for a start stall problem is unmetered airflow. Check your hoses coming out of the main air intake funnel (feeds the BAC etc).
The car will run even without a TPS and AFM so thats out...
Did you plug the FPR vacuum line back in?
Did you plug all the vacuum lines for the OMP etc back in under the intake manifold?
