Car squats under hard acceleration

Ok so I was driving around having some fun and got on the power in 2nd gear. I only took it up to around 5k rpm but as it pulled I could feel it squat down which I know is normal, but when I let off, it lunged forward a bit more than I figured it would. Finally, when I pulled into my parking spot, I heard a very quiet clunk as a barely coasted into my spot. Any possibility that something is broken back there?

hmmm...i think we will need a better description of this clunk before anyone can help you. like when it happens if it continues and if it comes from the front or the back of the car etc. also, sounds like its time for some better shocks .

Its definately from behind me, it happend as I was turning into my parking spot. Drove up in 2nd gear, pushed the clutch pedal down and coasted in. As I was half way in the spot with the wheel turned it a was a small clunk, didnt really feel anything, just heard it.

As for the squatting, the nose of the car came up but it kind of surprised me how far up it was, then dropped off quite hard once I let off.

Could your e-brake be stuck applying some pressure?

I have been chasing this problem for YEARS... My car has a RIDICULOUS amount of squat, and random thumps coming from the rear right.

Things relpaced:

Shocks/Struts/Diff mounts (all of them)

I am wondering if its sway bar related?

Justin, gimme a ride around sometime, i'm curious about this thunk. As far as the lift, after all it's a 15+yr old suspension.

Try pushing on the front then the rear of the car to see if you can get the car to bounce/move up and down. My S5TII suspension is so stiff, if you push on the front bumper, the car will not bounce. Same as the rear. You can put your whole weight on a corner and it will barely move.

Yea my coupe was like that, unlike my vert. PRetty new tokico shocks all around and when riding into boost as soon as it is about to hit the sweet spot you can see the front lift, but it doesntt bounce while switching gears it just comes up. This happens in almost every rwd car, it normal and more obvious in boosted ones. Also high torque cars...

The clunk could just be old rubber. Check your suspension bushings. I was getting noises all around. I changed all of the front suspension bushings, and some of the rear (havn't had time to finish). Now there's no noise in the front, and occational in the rear. I also upgraded to Tokico blues and Tanabe GF210 springs. That eliminated the squat, but there's one tight uphill hairpin near my house that I always spin one wheel on now. Guess it's time for an LSD.
