car smoking when i decelerate in 5th wtf

hey guys, just wondering but in my 89 GXL, recently its started to smoke. ill accelerate a lil while in 5th gear, not redling any of the others before i shift either, just mid range shifts. but when im slowing down at a light ill be in mid range, so i dont clutch in. a few of the times, the car will smoke. similar to cig smoke, or smoke at a bbq...the kind that makes your eyes water. anyways idono why this is, and i was wondering if anyone can help me out. i dont have a/c and i have the air pump, but the belt's not on it. it didnt happen before. anyways im wondering what it could be. my oil pressure is around 30. i added a lil not too long ago cuz i put some miles on it, and it went up a lil bit, then went down. im not leaking fluids, so can anyone help me troubleshoot this? its driving me crazy, and sad at the same time. thanks.

Got cats? No airpump + cats = a sure cat death...I dunno...I wouldn't think that'd cause smoke like that...I'm just sayin'...

Is there a little puffy sounding pop when you let off the gas when it smokes? I know sometimes if I redline a gear and let off the gas to shift, I get a puff and some oil smoke out the back. 173.5 k...you bet your *** the oil seals are going bye-bye!

ive got cats actually. all of them. i did spray rust converter on the muffler cans to convert the rust. idono if the overspray/residue from that being burner would cause it. it said let 24 hrs to cure. i let most of it cure for about 12, some for 18 in the muffler can area.

Every engine that I have had pop ALWAYS smoked on deceleration for the last 1000 miles or so.

Yep. I test drove a vert that did this... I didn't buy it, but I called the guy to see how it was going a month afterwards, and the engine did finally pop. I told him I'd buy it for a massively discounted rate.
