On most mornings my car smokes when i start it up. (Its the white oil smoke.) It also smells really bad like exhaust when the windows are down, and smells, but not as bad when they are up. I could not find an exhaust leak when it was up on blocks, but the car wasnt smoking then so I couldnt tell. Would running synthetic oil though it smell better or worse? Also possible reasons could be that I did do the atf trick, but i didnt get much in there so i dont think that would have much of an effect. The timing notches on the pully dont line up, when i am checking the leading i will line it up, but then the trailing one wont line up when i check the trailing. So i have it set somewhere inbetween so both settings are a little off. My car is also kinda slow and is cutting out past 6k rpms. Thanks for any help.

You have meny problems here.

Hande the timein LATER.
Put it BACk to align with the leading.

then hande the smoke problem. drive for 15-20 minutes and it should go away...

It takes a long time for even the littlest amount of atf to burn off.

I think now would be a good time to get a compression check. If your engine floods a lot and revs slowly it could be blown. Not sure but a compression check would let you know where to start.

Do NOT do the ATF trick until you've done everything else possible. I had the same symptoms, and the ATF trick finally pushed my oil seals over the edge. Current Status... Engine Rebuild + Streetport. Try anything else until there's nothing else left to do.
