Car runs like crap after the water trick

Hi, i recently did the water trick to my friends 90. We pulled the vacuum hose from the pressure sensor. After everything was done, his car did drive better. But problem we had after is that his car would not idle right. It would bounce up and down pretty hard at 750. Also we are getting code 17 and 51. What do you guys think the problem is?

Code 17 is the O2 sensor. Check the wiring, if that's OK replace the sensor.
Code 51 is the fuel pump resistor relay, check all the wiring and do the continuity tests in the FSM.
I don't know how the water trick would have caused these problems or why they'd affect idle.

I can see how the "water trick" could have damaged the O2 sensor, but not the resistor block. That's probably just loose.

Under the stock air filter location, behind the RHS headlight. It's a silver box with a big plug. Get the FSM, all the info's there!

so, the "water trick", is the procedure kind of like the atf trick?
personally I would never get water anywhere near the combustion chamber. mabey I'm just paranoid, but everything I have ever heard says water+combustion=hydrolock.

Hydrolock not possible but since the steam is heating up the exaust red hot I would think that mabey it burnt out the oxygen sensor.

I am not suggesting that your engine is hydrolocked, rather I would be scared of that possibility, so I wouldnt put water in MY engine.

Same here, what is the water trick? Some kind of poor man's ATF trick? Do you put water into the combustion chamber? I dont see how that could be beneficial.

Reset your ECU.
Since you unplugged your pressure sensor hose (so it's registering 0 hg). and you had a vacuum leak since the line was off, your computer compensated... Just reset it, it should be fine- I did the same thing, and experienced the same result... I reset my ECU and I was OK.

Hmm my friend unplugged the battery for like 8 hours, plugged it back in. Same Problem.

Are you suppose to use the lines to the pressure sensor or should i use something else?

Yeah, **** in your air filter while its running. Hell, dump some degreaser in there. It cleans everything else up, why not a running engine? I guess I'll never understand dumping **** in your engine. What ever happened to ******* taking care of it in the first place?
