First question. How do you know your car is running rich?

When do you think it is running rich?

Check your TPS.
More than likely it's out of wack anyways. Might as well do it.

Check your O2 sensor, TPS and check for error codes.
What I did was I tapped into the O2 sensor at the ECU and hooked up a digital meter so I can check and adjust the idle whenever I need to check how rich it's running at idle but not a good way to tune while running WOT since it isn't that accurate. You can get creative how you want to set that up. I have mine permantly attached under the dash for quick hook up. The O2 sensor voltage should be about .82-.86 . That should be around stoich.
If if it's way over, then you are running rich. This way at least you *know* what the numbers are telling you rather than guessing.

Unhappy

ok when i first start it up it runs fine.. no smoke, nothing...... when i start to drive nothing but then when it starts to boost and i let off thats when it starts to smoke. i know its not a coolant leak cause its always full. the only time it smokes is after the car makes boost and then it wont quit until it gets around 3500rpm and then it kinda goes away until i stop or it hits boost again.....................................:confuse d:

What color is the smoke?

It really sounds like your turbo might be leaking oil into the intake or out the exhaust.

To check for an oil leak on the intake side. Remove the rubber 90 degree bend that goes into your intercooler. This should be free of oil inside. If it is soaked with oil you found your problem (Turbo).

What you wrote in your first post and what you explained above are two totally different problems.
The above post indicates a bad turbo oil seal. Try pulling off the AFM and see if there is play in the compressor wheel (there should be almost no play in/out and up/down).
Try this: rev the engine above 4000 rpm and hold it for about 30 seconds. If it does not smoke, it's the turbo. If it does smoke, your oil control rings are bad (rebuild).

The oil control rings are sandwiched in the engine. So, while your in their you should rebuild the engine.

However, just pull that hose off and check. It takes all of 2 minutes.

The oil control rings are in the rotors. There are 4 oil rings (something like rubber) inside the metal oil rings on each side of the rotors. Hopefully that's not why it's smoking. The only remedy is a rebuild.
