Car Purchased ...

won't start. I know it won't start and I talked the price down quite a bit because I believe it to just be the igniters.

However, it leaked fuel from the exhaust when it did start, and as of now it will turnover but not start.

Any ideas? All help welcomed and encouraged.

Could you please explain a little more? Not sure I am understanding you thoroughly.

ALSO ... edited for this information

-leaks fuel from exhaust when the car is NOT on.
-mechanic starts the car by taking off spark plugs cleaning them out and dropping a couple droplets of oil.

Could be a # of things

Starting it that way could mean it has low compression.
May have a really bad clogged cat.
Fuel Pulsation dampner could need replaced (leaking fuel)
Or it's flodding out (leaking injector) which can cause it not to start. Thus the oil in the housing to make it start.

compression test it to see if its even worth your time to get running. If less than 85 on all the faces, toss that motor.

wrong spark plugs? damn well get the right ones they can not be some civic or ford spark plugs you just put in. they need to be leading/trailing spark plugs(NGK) and make sure you put them in right. as far as the flooding method i talked about before pop the hood and right by driver side strut tower there is a small single row of fuses. look on there for the EGI comp fuse pull that then get in foot to floor crank over motor without the fuse in for 10 seconds then put fuse back in and crank no foot to floor this time for 10 sec. do this method of pulling/cranking/plug in/crank for 2 cycles with new spark plugs in. if it is still not firing up then you have other issues beyond flooding. try the basics before hopping to conclusiond. make sure you have fuel/spark(simple things such as faulty fuel pump/fouled spark plugs etc). and do the compression test on it asap
