Car over heating, constantly.

I recently just got a 86 Rx-7. The guy has the over flow tube going into a plastic bottle. so the bottle has to be emptied when it gets full. Isnt it suppose to be hooked up to the coolant jug? and isnt there suppose to be a coolant return line?

another thing. My water pump is leaking water. So will some of that radiator fix stuff from auto zone fix the problem? cuz I am constantly putting water in the car.

so what do I do?

well, first off, replace the water pump... then have the overflow line put back where its supposed to be.. replace the thermostat, and then flush and fill the system, and get all the air bubbles out...and i bet you wont be overheating anymore..... all of that should set you back like 100 bucks... small price to pay for all the overheating hassles, and posssible motor damage

first search and read through the forums to find most of your answers...
second dont be cheap and buy a new water pump dont ever use that radiator fix stuff. it takes 30 minutes to change out a water pump on an rx7 if you are mechanically inclined if you arent then it will probably take an hour and a half but either way dont cheap out on your rx7 otherwise it will crap out on you. Next hook up the nipple from the radiator to the nipple on the overflow tank
then fill it with coolant. next make sure your pressure cap on your radiator is good all of these parts should cost you a total of 60 bucks for a new water pump and a new pressure cap oh and add 5 bucks for a jug o coolant
so 65 and one and a half hour of work and you should be fine
oh and dont drive the car at all until you fix these problems otherwise if you overheat the car too much then you wont have a motor anymore
trust me take my advice and dont cheap out
