Car no worky.....but it did for a sec.
Hey Fellas a buddy of mine who's not on this forum is having some problems with his car, we've tried everything we can think of and it doesn't start. So here it is:
"hello all..... I have a 88 se and she has been great to me...... on my car i had the fuel cut-off switch to keep the injectors from leaking. So the switch worked great till I somehow kicked the switch and broke it. Switch was turned off so i had to go get a new one. I bought the same switch and hooked it up the same way as before, then the car started right up. Then i went to a party and the car wouldnt start. My switch was a "light up" switch so I could see it in the dark, just like the last. So my car wont start and the switch isnt lighting up either. I tried to push start my car with no luck. so I tried the switch every-way I could. car still wont start. I couldnt hear the fuel pump going so i took-off a spark-plug and it was wet with fuel. So I bought some more sparkplug figureng that they might be fouled, still no luck. So then I tried to start the car with a plug out to see if I could get a spark with no luck either. tried everything I could to see if the was any spark coming from the coils with no luck either. I know the fuel pump switch hooks to a relay..... Could I have blown the relay and that somehow affect the coils? Do you think i just need new coils?..... ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT, im in the San Antonio area and im willing to pay for the help if your inthe area. Im really tired of walking, thanks"
Thanks for the help ahead of time.

??? Did he do the basic fuse checks?
I don't get how the switch isn't getting power to light itself but the pump is working... how is that even possible? If the switch is connecting the circuit and the pump is working then the light should be in the circuit... so that's a little weird.
But yeah, stickin' with check the fuses for now heh.

bad switch buy a new one, did you say that the switch was on a relay? what relay? the switch is the relay in the equation. did you mean the fuel pump was on the relay? check the fuek pump for power at the pump with a multimeter or teat light if you have one. then check every two inches of the under dash power wire to see where it is slit. otherwise look foe a wire in a plug and give it a little tug one sounds like it is loose in the plug under the dash hope it helps.
