Car killing on highway

A bad tps shouldn't cause my car to kill right? If the tps is faulty, the ECU assumes full throttle. So what could cause my car to kill? A coil? Poor grounding?

I haven't given a large description of the symptoms; but since they are so erratic, it is difficult to do so.

I bad TPS can cause all kinds of craziness. For example, mine came unplugged while I was accellerating from a light. The car was undrivable. Anyting about 1500 RPM would cause sputtering, backfiring, etc.

But if you car is just up and dying on the highway, I wouldn't assume it is the TPS at first. Check all major electrical connections, as well as the key switch. They wear out, and can cause this symptom.
