I just got a 88 gxl. It sat for quite a while, but i got most of the problems fixed like the tps and the fuel system. And now everything has been fine for about a month, but quite a few times the engine just shuts off.(litterally just f*ckin stares back at me like its supposed to do sumthin) There no indication of anything, no noises, no drivablity problems, all the gauges are fine. it usually occures the most when i turn the ac on, but it does it when its off as well. It alwayz start back up on the 2nd try but never the first. and then its fine again, it will rev hard and drive good like nuthin ever happened. Can anybody help????? thanks


ps it idles low, here and there, but not all the time

 

adjust your Idle...how did you adjust your tps? you idle should atleast be 750...but if you have any mods you should bump it up allittle....try adjusting the BAC..you can get info on ajusting it with the FSM found at www.fc3s.org

 

Yea, sounds like a BAC problem if it does it when you turn the A/C on.

 

Verify If the actual By Pass Air Control Valve Is working by removing It. From there, apply voltage from the Battery with 2 wires you may have kicking around. Connect and reconnect and confirm you see the valve actuating In conjunction with a clicking you should here. While you are at It, clean It with the above directions buy giving It a shot of WD-40 and persistantly apply voltage to work It In. After that, blow out as much as you can than wipe dry.
