car heats up with a/c on, why?

Just wondering why this would happen. My car normally runs about 1/6th - 1/3rd on the stock temp gauge. When I turn the A/C on, and am driving around in normal stop and go traffic, it heats up to about 1/2 on the gauge. Why would this happen?

Keeping your defrost on w/ full blast and heat keeps it running cool, blocking this off by turning on a/c plus the resistance the a/c gives the engine is most of the reason a good cooling system should allow you to run it.
P.S why the open intake, will cause problems

well the condensor for the ac runs in front of the radiator and radiates extra heat onto it. thats about it

yeah it is a common thing most people that run ac see their temp gauge run for the mountain and get stuck about half way give or take a needle so its alright just kind of scary seeing it that high
