Car has really odd idling issues

I've looked through the billions and zillions of threads on the site, but nothing is close to the problem i am encountering. Here's the problem,,,,,, got an 87 n/a and it has startup issues. Everytime i start the car, it will jump to 3000 rpm and then slowly decrease rpm and die in a 6-7 second time span. It does this the first three or four times i start it then it keeps its idle. Then when its warmed up a llittle after about 7-10 min, it starts to die, goes down to about 500 rpm, then dies.

I adjusted the TPS and tried to adjust the idle screw, but it didn't help it. Maybe i'm doing something wrong here,

PLEASE HELP!!!!! need it bad.

dude.. the 3000 startup is normal it does that when the engine is cold,my rx7 and my friends does the same thing, when i dont want mine to do that i just rev the car once and it drops back down, and about the car dieing it mite have to do with you messing around with stuff, but other then that i have no idea why it dies normal idle is 750, mine idles 1500-1800 because i have vaccume leaks, maybe its time 4 a rebuild or something

i know the 3000 rpm is normal, but it dies out the first three or four times i start it. Its been doing this ever since i got it. And when it does start, after a few minutes it dies out again.

Have you changed the Plugs? If you haven't do a tune up and than try to set your idel once again. If you still have a low idel adjust the screw on the dashpot so it opens the thottle blades a little more. Then you can set that and fine tune it with the idel screw.

Here is a helpful link. Follow these instructions to the T, and if it doesn't help out, I'm sure one of the gods here will help.

Hope that does the trick.

does anyone know if the link above me works if your idle is constantly bouncing, but going so low that you can actually hear and feel the engine almost die out?
