Car hard to start, Whats wrong??

I have a 89 N/A and It doesnt start very good. Without touching the gas pedal it wont start, i really have to pedal the gas in order to get it started, and when it does it makes weird poping noises for another 10 sec. When the car is hot it usually starts fine.

Ive replaced spark plugs, did the timing, car runs good, so i think i have a good compresion. Whats else can i check or replace???

thanx, by the way im selling a power steering pump for $25.

Do you push the pedal all the way to the floor to start it? I believe with the series 5s you can do that to "unflood" the engine. You caould do an easy fix of adding a fuel pump kill switch if I am right.
