Car on Fire
Just a thought. IF you have full coverage on the car they should fix this for you. When mine went up on me, I figured I would have to pay a shitload to get it fixed, but i just payed the deductable. I wouldn't have called them about it if some one on the board hadn't suggested it SO............
I got to mine pretty fast and got it out. I don't remember what all was damaged, but it was pretty minimal. One injector, some toasted wire(saveable), a new PD (duh) and some other stuff. Total bill was 1800.
Every S4 driver should carry an extingisher!!!!!

I have spare omps tps's map sensors bacs etc, if you need anything to put it back together let me know and i'll put it together and tell you what shipping would be.
I gues I would try and get coolant hoses together first and see if you can pressure test the system to see if the coolant seals may have been damaged, perhaps also compression test the engine?

Yes it i did notice a drop in performance but i didnt think it would go up in flames on me
A) Buy a fire extinguisher and keep it in the car at all times
B) If you smell anything burning or any strange change in engine performance, pull over immediately
Where is that pic of the FC model car that comes with a fire truck?

I second Monkey's idea, I think we could save quite a few cars if we can inform people about possible problems.
Mine started leaking last year and i fixed it before a fire started, i just used a primary fuel rail banjo bolt and never looked back
i'm going to probably repair the one on my turbo Fc before i even drive it.

well, you need to clean that stuff, then remove the burned cables. If you can find a good harness would be great ir if you find a bad one with good connectors do a rewiring. Find what was the cause of the fire. Also buy a fire extinguiser.
I read about the pulsation dampener problems and since I have a convertible, which are worth a lot more than the coupes, even though it is a 1991 I decided to get full coverage for my car with a $250 deductable. I also carry a fire extinguisher, not a Halon one but one that is made for cars. I am not sure if fires are covered under comprehensive or collision ( I would guess comprehensive) but you can buy them seperately with State Farm. I only pay about $100 more every 6 months for full coverage and a $250 deductable. This is also good for the convertibles because people will cut your tops open.
