Car dies, won't start

I have a pretty wierd problem going on. Last night, I was driving around, and things felt odd, so I tried flooring it, and my car would get to 4,500 rpm and then act like it can't rev any higher, but i still go forward. If I let go of the pedal for a second, and hit it again, It'll go again. After that, when I slowed down for a stop sign, my car just kinda dies. It doesn't slow down like it ran out of gas, it's more like the battery is disconnected and everything stops working. Then I tried to start it back up, and it would start and you can hear the engine go for a split second and the tach. goes to 1k and drops down like there is no more gas to use. Then after about another minute of sitting there, I tried to start again and it makes the sound where you know the battery is dying. My friend helps me try to jump start it, but every time it's the same thing where it sounds like there's no more fuel to use. I can't figure out what might be the problem. Someone suggested dead alternator? Those are my only two ideas, fuel delivery and alternator. Any ideas?

could be spark or something

watch your voltage during the whole ordeal.. as a TEST run a temporary ground wire to the lead coil mount..

i did the same, having the same symptoms, and the better ground totally made the car come back to life.. needless to say i kept the ground there..

there doesn't seem to be a problem there with the AFM. I thought I saw some smoke come out of the exhaust one time, but it hasn't happened again, it was white and just a small puff, could've been from neighbor's across the alley barbecuing something

i don't know if bad gas could be a suspect.... i filled up in some stupid Exxon in a hick town near gladewater, 2 hours from my hometown, and when i got home, i didn't move my car for 3 days... dunno if crap floated to the bottom of the tank or anything, but i guess it's a possibility, right? i might have to drain it and fill it up with good gas or something

bad gas wouldnt just shut the car off i dont think, it would most likly make the car run like ****. do a compression test and check ur plugs, lol maybe you put disel fuel in lol. jk but check if ur sparking, it sounds like that could be the problem.
