is there any way of knowing if your pulsation damner is bad or is going

yeah it leaks, or on the S4 versions the screw comes out when you pop the cover off.

less likely in s5 but still a possibitlty as there are still engine fires caused by them.... definately check the screw on s4 cars, you can see it if you pop the plastic cap off. MINE HAD FALLEN OUT!!!!

S5s don't have the screw, but still have the problem of getting old and leaking.

The draw back with the S5 design is if the PD leaks, you have to replace the whole fuel rail, not just the PD as you can on a S4.
