I have a 87 base. I was on the highway the other day and the car just died. It didn't overheat or anything it just died. I was doing about 70 on the highway when it died. I have no idea what it could be. I tried push starting it, and it won't work. When i crank it, it just turns but it won't start. I changed the battery and still nothing. I checked the spark plugs and they look good. A little wet from me cranking it. So i took out the EGI fuse to unflood it. Started it back up and still nothing. Could it be bad spark plugs. That they just gave out in the middle of the drive. Or could the motor be done. The car has 126k miles with no aftermarket parts. Just hopes of one day not being so broke. Any help.

 

Did it just instantly shut off, or did it kinda sputter and die.
Also, I know this sounds stupid, but are you sure it has gas?

 

its probably either your engine isnt getting any fuel or the engine has retired and its time for a rebuild.

Do a compression test if everything else checks out.

 

check your altenator ? also i would check the battery .. same thing happened to me but at 5 mph lol
