Car Completely Dead.

AS you may know, my car has very low compression. Well, my friend took her out for a drive and it started to leak coolant, but he was gone by the time I realized it. 10 minutes later he called me to tell me that it overheated, but not completely(3/4 on guage). He waited to let it cool down and then started to come back. About 7.253 minutes later he called again. He was about 200 feet from my house on the side of the road. He said he shifted into 2nd and it would not go past 3000, and was sputtering. He downshifted into 1st and it just died. Will not start. It wont even make an attempt at starting. What the poo happened? New engine time?

Did it completely overheat on the trip back home? Does it turn over? Does it try to start?

Don't bother with a j-spec, rebuild and have the one you have ported.

But double check everything, it'll be a waste to throw away a fine engine.

And get something to tune the 720's.

I would check the battery with a volt meter to see if it is fully charged, then if it is, use a jumper cable to jump from the battery straight to the starter. Just tap the starter terminal with the jumper cable to see if it turns over then. If it turns over with the jumper then you have a problem with the wiring.

I don't think there is any reason at this point to think about a rebuild. You need to check for open circuits. Broken wires, blown fuses, bad ignition switch.

Its ported right now.I can get a j-spec comp tested with the tranny for 1400 shipped. 44,000 miles. How much should a rebuild cost?

depends if you do it yourself or not.

have you been able to do any kind of compression test? (just cranking it by hand)
