Car is burning coolant...

and I'm assuming that the motor will need a complete rebuild, right? Or is there something else I can do?

I just picked up a '90 GXL with 131k on her for $800, this thing has to be one of the cleanest 7s I've seen in awhile. a few scratches, no dings, no rust, the only thing wrong with the interior is a small rip in the leather on the driver's seat. I just so happen to go along with a friend to move this car from the previous owner old house to his new house. His wife didn't want it sitting at the new house and told me to make a offer. The first offer of $500 wasn't acceptable and we agreed upon $800.

I figure if the motor has to be rebuilt, I will have a nice GXL for under $2000 + my '89 vert that I just bought.

So many 7s to drive and not enough time to drive them... :smiley_12

IMO, you'll want to go with all new seals. Hard and soft.

If you don't want to go all new, you can spec everything out. If they're in spec you can re-use them I guess.

BUT 131k is a pretty high number. I'd do a full rebuild. Hopefully the housings are still good.

Or you can be badass and boost it

I wouldn't bother reusing any seals with 131k on it, you may as well do a full rebuild.

Go for the full rebuild. There are several options out there that will allow you to rebuild and port your motor for ~$2000.

Thanks for the info, I was sure it needed a rebuild, but needed to know my options.

Full rebuild is the only way to go.......... Be sure to carefully inspect the rotor housings, as there is a possibility that one or both could be damaged. In our DVD we go over how to inspect it for several types of damage from overheating
