Car burning alot of oil

Ok i just got done removing my rats nest and installing my FMIC. i started the car up today and it idles crazy high(3k) for like 10 sec and then it flucuates from 1,500-1,000. in the proces of this alot of smoke is coming out of the exhaust. then i took it around the block and it only smokes on idle. when the car's under a load it wont..only idle. anyone have any ideas?

Hows it running when you take it down the street? Does it have good power? Does it sputter alot?

When you first crank the engine the computer tells it to rev up to about 3K or so for a sec to help heat the precat up. But the smoking and surging isnt normal lol.

I dunno about the power as far as boost becuase i was kinda scared, but just cruzing the power was there...it was not spuddering at all. alos when i removed the rats nest i did not have a catch can on their for about 5 min when i was running it. today i put that on seeing if that might help but it didnt.

Next time you drive it, get into the pedal a little and see how it does.

Ahhh yes, thats probably it. Look around the manifold and what not and make sure there arent any hoses unplugged.

What kind of sealent did you use? Do a compression test (i'm sure its fine, but do one any way, if you have a guage or have a friend that does). Check your PVC valve.

This is not an Un-common problem. Does it still oscillate when you turn on the A/C? If so, it's an Upper-Intake Manifold (UIM) gasket leak - or so I've read elsewhere. I have the same problem BTW...I've also got a fuel leak, probably in the FPD, so that's all going to get taken apart and re-assembled this week. I'll let you know if it fixes the problem.
