Car alarm??????

Car alarm??????

Hey do any of you know what sets off the factory car alarm it started going off when i got home and got out???????? and i dont know how to turn it off .......................

turn the key in the door to the unlock position to disarm the factory security system

hah, I know that feeling...mine shorted or something one time, and it went off when I unlocked the door...so I figured trying to re-lock it would solve the problem...the damn key broke off in the door, fortunately, I was able to get into the engine bay and disconnect my battery cable ...what sets them off is supposed to be and kind of forced entry, i.e. the door comes open when the door sensor is detecting locked...or something like that, I don't know, mine didn't go off when someone slashed my top

it detects you locking your door. If someone were to break the glass and then unlock the door (logical to get into the car) it will detect entry without a key. Its a rudamentary alarm but hey impact sensors were hella expensive circa 1980 and not too reliable.
