WA Canvas vert top

I am going to put a new convertible top on my 90 rx7 and have searched through the forum and decided on the canvas. Most of the posts on the forum about the canvas top people have liked the robbins canvas top. I cannot find the canvas top on the robbins site or elsewhere. The only canvas top I found was from convertibletopguys which is the Haartz Stayfast canvas. I am not sure if that top is decent or not. 700 bucks is a big investment for me and I want to buy the nicest and best fit one I can. And no, no vinyl... I will also be installing the top myself, any tips other than to take my time and to cut the rear window *perfectly* would be great!

Haartz has been around for a long time, IIRC my Dad put one on his SL190 back in the seventies.
I'd feel comfortable with them.

That is exactly what I bought 2 years ago. I paid 450ish for installation and they made me a new headliner. The old one was very brittle and ths newer fabric is much nicer.
The quality of the installation is questionable but the top/material is really nice. I'm very happy with it.

We installed the convertibletopguys canvas top and it's very nice. We followed the provided instructions and had no issues. It has stayed taut and still looks expensive and high end.

Professional installation would reduce your risk of course. A good install takes a lot of **** retentiveness with all the measuring, remeasuring, fitting and refitting.

Good luck.

Robbins does make a canvas top, you just need to call them.

I am ordering the vinyl top this week. My upholstery guy called them last week and they have to custom make both the vinyl and canvas tops because they do not keep them in inventory.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I am going to attempt the install myself and if that doesn't work I will have a shop finish it up for me. Thanks again!

Only advice I can offer is do the install in the hottest possible weather/environment you can.
You want the material (either vinyl or canvas) to be as flexible and pliable as possible so you can stretch the hell out of it to get a tight fit.

We'd remove the top from the packaging, spread it out over the car and let it sit in the sun for a day or so until creases and wrinkles relaxed, then install.
