Cant get it to start

So there are tons of posts on this subject but i cant find one similar enough to my specific issue. I was out driving about 5 miles round trip and as i got home pulling into my driveway my car wouldnt start back up. The next morning i attempted to start it again and it will crank and even fire up for a split second then die imediatly. During my drive i didnt experience any issues driving or overheating so im at a total loss as to what it could be. Any ideas on what i should check out would be great. The car is a 1987 turbo II with mild streetport 850cc injectors fmic and turbonetics turbo.

Confirm the basics first. Ensure the engine is not flooded. Remove the spark plugs and inspect them. If they are gas soaked, deflood the engine and attempt to start it.

Run a proper compression test with a rotary compression tester after deflooding it, as the fuel system will be disabled during the deflood procedure. Do this if you suspect a compression issue and to confirm you are working on a good engine.

If the engine still does not start, confirm that you have good spark. If not you will need to troubleshoot this issue.

If the plugs are dry then you likely have a fuel delivery problem to diagnose. You can still check for spark as well if the plugs are dry. I'm currently dealing with a non spark, no injector pulse issue on my 88 GXL.

The real question is what are you using to control those 55% bigger than stock injectors

Im a complete fool, no excuses, i was panicked by the failure to idle and didnt check every little thing, the issue turned out to be a loosened up fmic rubber elbow backing off. I feel dumb and have learned a valuable lesson.(not to panic and hit the forums before checking every square inch of the vehicle before wasting your guys time)

My sincerest apologies

Btw my 850cc's are actually running off the stock ecu(currently looking to get something aftermarket) is that harmful aside from running pretty rich, what could happen

yeah your going to be running too rich, I would install stock size injectors if you can or even better stock injectors if you still have them. IDK how bad washout can be for a rotary but a piston engine running super rich isnt a good idea. likely its also not a good idea on a rotary.

there are places that rebuild injectors and I would drop your stock set off and have them flow tested / rebuilt.

At least you figured out the initial issue. That's a good start!
