Can't get O2 sensor off

on my 90 GTU, i think it's rust on - sprayed liquid wrench on and still no go. also it's in such a tight spot i can't get very good leverage from the top, and from the bottom i don't have even maneuverability.

any ideas on getting that darn thing off??? also, what happens if i just cut the wire, runs rich right? anything else bad?

They make special sockets for the oxygen sensor. But you knew that. I took one off Sunday before the auto shops opened. Had problems getting at it . Took a twelve point box combination wrench that was about a foot and a half long and cut off the 7/8 end until it was six or seven inches long, cut wire and fed the box end over the sensor and arranged it so that the seven inch extended piece was facing forward and a little outboard. Then I took a crowbar and stuck it between the chassis and the extended piece and pryed or is it pried? Once the sensor broke loose it could be turned by fingers. Bosch sensor. This was a 87 turbo. I know the n/a is arranged a little different but I'm too lazy to go look at it. In other words you can buy a otwo wrench or make a tool out of your present tools that will work. No I have not a special o two wrench, but I've heard about them.

yes i have the O2 sensor socket - i had attached it to my ratchet and then used a claw hammer and tried to pry it loose, then i heard metal bending and wasn't sure if i was either my a/c lines or the manifold so i stopped.

so my next attempt tonight will be to CRAWL on top of the engine hoping to fit under the hood and then pull the ratchet towards me.

or would removing the exhaust manifold itself be easier???
