Can you spin the rotary by moving the belts?

Hi,

I am currently researching on how to properly do the ATF tricks. So far, I am fairly equipped with the knowledge and tools. However, for best results, it is better for us to turn the rotary once in a while (16hours).

I am wondering if I could turn the rotary by moving the belts? If so, which belt do I move?

Better yet, just turn the engine using the main pulley. Its the big one w/ 4 belt grooves at the bottom. Remember, 1 full rotation of the main pulley= 1/3 rotation of the rotors.

Even easier, slap a 19mm socket (and ratchet) on the alternator pulley and turn.&nbsp This is a bit easier to do than the main pulley underneath.

Really? so I basically stick a 19mm socket at the center bolt of the alternator and turn it?

Yes.&nbsp You still got your alternator/water pump belt on, right?&nbsp Just make sure the transmission is not in gear, and it has enough tension to spin the motor over by "hand".

I'm 80% sure on this but I jsut wana check:

When turning, the E-Shaft, the gear from the dist. keeps track so the ignition will not be off. Is that corect?

Yes - any of the belts slip, this will not affect ignition timing.
