Can you please post these sunlight pics?

As soon as Craig gets home we will download them and post them. It's his car, and his hood, so we have to wait until he gets home

*Returns with Light Sabre...now where is the 0007*

But seriously, I just had to say again that you guys are doing a GREAT (read: words can't describe) job. I also agree on the FC mainly go with a nice little show (that sounded kinda dumb I know). There aren't too many drool inducers out there running around, but damn if they won't "whoop that ***" quick!

All the parts I've been waiting for are finally coming to the light...too bad I'm a college student again instead of at Dominos (damn you guys...where were you when I was still pulling in ridiculous money ). Oh well...tax time approaches, and remember students DON'T PAY TAXES.

*terribly evil grin...strikes fear into the heart of Hondas everywhere*

You guys can buy a hood and have it modified to fit whatever scoop, vent or other thing you think you might need by a local body shop or fiberglass shop.

Of course that would mean painting it after but if your so hell bent on a cowl induction ( you people calling "reverse scoop" ) hood thats the price you got to pay.
Hint: get a N/A hood and modify it however way you want afterwords and have a one of a kind hood.

Rob brings up a very good point. We can do these hoods in fiberglass as well for people wanting to modify them so you don't have to shell out the money for CF, but you would still have a lighter hood that would allow you to modify it with any sort of cowl ducting, scoops, or anything else of that nature.

I just have to say again Dave, They're absolutely gorgeous. My birthday is right after Christmas (so I'll have some extra cash) and hopefully I'll be giving you a call. Those hoods are awesome man, words really cant describe them.

Whatever you do don't stop making these hoods. I will be buying one but it won't be until late spring.

We would use the same molds, so if you ordered it we would make it. We won't be making any for us since we don't want any for ourselves.

We also don't plan on stopping the production of these any time soon, or at all for that matter.

The tugline is the reason why we are blacking out the scoop area so that it isn't as hard to lay, therefore no tuglines will be in the hoods.

[B]The hood scoop that I highlighted in the last picture shows the imprint of the hood scoop that is molded into the hood. That hood scoop will be blacked out with black gel coat in the mold so that it looks better. The CF didn't lay right because of the angles being to tall and the cuts in the CF to lay just didn't work out and there were some wrinkles and so forth. They will still be CF and they will still look sweet though

Dave-

Are you saying that the scoop, scoop insert, or both will be black gel coat? Or just for the mold and then have the carbon fiber laid over top? Basicaly what I'm asking is will the entire hood including the whole scoop area be and look like carbon fiber? Sorry if this was kinda a stupid question but I'm not sure I've understood you correctly. Thanks!

The actual scoop, like the piece that is removable on the stock hood that is fiberglass. That is the part that will be black physically on the hood. The CF won't lay in the mold without pulling at the weave and looking crappy on the scoop. The rest of the top of the hood will be CF. Just the actual intake area on the scoop. Make sense now? Or did I confuse you more? LOL

Clear as mud right?

Please read my direct reply to your quote on the first page. I directly ansered that question.

edit: Just noticed that you are selling Mazdaspeed7's CF parts on your website... are these hoods made by him as well?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The hoods are stock, so if a stock hood fits your car, either of these hoods will fit your hood. These hoods are made by the owner of FRP Fabrications in San Marcos, California. And no, we doesn't sell them outside of us because we own the molds so don't waste your time (Not you Kurgan, but others that might try to buy them direct )

As far as Mazdaspeed7's stuff goes, that is his page, it's just on my website. I offer a forum for those that wish to sell their parts to the RX-7 community. It is kind of like a one stop shop so to speak for things that the big stores don't carry. "

Thanks

Anyone know an approximate weight difference between hoods? As in steel vs. fiberglass vs Carbon Fiber? Also, asking opinions, should an N/A guy stick with an N/A Hood or go with a TII one for those added looks?

No, that is just get coated. That is the way they come. If you wanted to do a local pickup, we are located in Escondido, in northern San Diego.

I posted the weights above. Steel is 53lbs, FG and CF would weight close to the same with the CF a bit less. The CF TII weighs 23lbs and an AL TII hood weighs 36lbs

Go with whatever hood you think would look nice on your car. Screw people that think it looks "rice" It's your car, enjoy it as such.
