Can you believe i snapped my Throttle Cable

seriously...

what is going on, last friday my car was almost stolen, and many things were taken instead.

a week later, today, after investing in a new ignition and other stuff, i was on my way to work and merging onto the interstate going from 2nd to 3rd, and

SNAP!!!!!

i thought i busted my drivetrain, then, i thought i popped my boosted wankel.

then i realized the pedal was not responding and knew that somehow i had broken the steel cable.

well, after 1 1/2 hours of traffic flying by me at 75+ mph, and poking my sensitive fingers with splintered steel, i was able to tie the cable back together with zip ties and electrical tape, thanks to a potsmoking passerby on his way to work.

I was only able to get up to 3000 rpm and 40mph but i made it the two miles to my house.

now i am awaiting my new cable from atkins rotary to arrive by tuesday, i hope. good thing i went to the quad state BBQ and won that gift certificate to their fine establishment, otherwise i would be out 60 bucks instead of 35.

what will happen next? who knows, i don't want to think about it. thats my story and i'm sticking to it.

The gingerbread man is temporarily out of service.

that's when you put it in top gear and hang on. or rather hit the brakes and stall the engine.

On a formula 2 bike? As i understand it, if that happens on a bike like that you don't have any choice but to lay it down and hope you dont get hit by a car.

i would imagine the brakes could out power that motor, perhaps avoiding what you call the 'inevitable'.

... that's why every motorcycle made in the past, what, 40 years? has an engine kill switch in easy reach of your thumb in normal riding position.

If it sticks, kill the damn motor.

UPdate,,,

so i put the new cable on today, and actually adjusted it properly. before it was uneven in feel from 1/2 throttle to full throttle. now it is smooth the whole way, and i picked up about 1/2- 2/3 of an inch of pedal travel, which means more fuel and air and more of that power stuff everyone is trying to get more of, i think it's called Rear Wheel Horsepower.

yea baby, the car is a rocket at almost .9 Bar on stock turbo and injectors, thank goodness for the high pressure fp from walbro.

well, i'm off the road again! I almost made it half a day without any glitches. this time someone smashed my car window, stole my dremel, my sockets, and worst of all...my Ibanez thinbody acoustic/electric guitar, 100% real wood with flame top, back and sides.

Wow, good thing I took my tools out of the car last night.

I don't how much it hurts to lose a guitar yet (knocks on wood ... not the Tele! please not the Tele!!). Especially bad when you lose a nice hybrid like that.

Best of luck finding a replacement window.
