I Just changed the oil in my car for the 1st time with 20W50 (thick) anyways i took out the old oil (dont know how old it is) the car has been sitting for almost 2 years with an occasional run. But the thing that concerned me is that the oil smelled of gas. The car burns a bit of oil after it's been sittin for a couple of days (normal right?) then goes to normal. But i was just wondering if the oil smelling like gas after 2 years of being changed was okay. A friend told me it was fine if it has been sitting. Just wanted to check with the pro's. BTW the engine only has 40,000 KMH on it. and the exhaust smells a bit of gas as well. Please let me know thanks!

 

Sounds fine. Don't worry bout the exhaust smell. 7s run rich, so that is all. I think most rx-7s you run across will do that. When you check your oil next time, smell it again. If it still stinks, then we can see if there is a problem.
