Mustang rims on FC

I don't know if he's running any spacers but I think it looks good for someone on a budget!

Edit: the car is for sale on autotrader http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/v...&ac_afflt=none

Does anyone know for sure if those bolt right on, though? I know the mind-90s 15" rims from the V6 bolts right up. Any mustang heads out there wanna comment on bolt pattern changes?

I have a 98GT with 98 Cobra rims on them, and I put them on my bro's car the other day, and damn did they look good. I could only put on the back ones because I have 275 45 17's, but they looked bad!!!!!!!!!

I know they are much heavier, I wonder if anyone knows just by how much!
Don't they stick out like crazy?
I'm sticking to my suprisingly lightweight TII rims... (though they aren't exactly beautiful- mirror polishing does help though...)

That's so ghetto, not to mention that in the pic you can tell that they're sticking out a little too much.

Wheels from other cars isn't such a bad idea. I've got a set of R32 GTR rims on my '89 T2. It's not "ghetto" in my eyes obviously. I have a picture of my car from this past Sunday at an autoX event.

I might just get the factory t2 rims polished up nice and spend the money saved on power mods for now.

Hey, where did you get those rims? They look very nice. What size/width are they, and what size tires are on them?

Thanks. I bought them when I was in Japan last October. For less than $500 I was able to pick up a set of nearly perfect wheels. I've always liked these wheels on FC's so when I found a set I just had to get them. These are OE rims for the R32 Nissan Skyline GTR. They are 16x8 and weight not too much at all. The best the '80s technology had to offer. They are a popular budget upgrade in Japan so it's not like I had an original idea. 225/50 Advan A032R in the front and 225/50 Advan Intermediates are in the back. The offset in the front is a smidgen wide, but when I get the camber plates from Ground Control that'll be solved. I'm going to dial in lots of camber not to pull the wheels in (just an added benefit) but to even out the wear on my tires. For some strange reason I always wear out my front tires on their outer edges. Maybe it has something to do with drivin sideways quite often. The rear offset is practically perfect. The best part about these wheels is that they are easy to clean. A couple of swipes with a rag and they are done. The stock wheels suck in that respect. If I wanted to do a good job it would take about half an hour to clean out all of those nooks.

So you feel it's ghetto even if they don't stick out? Why, pray tell?

Numerous reasons, the GT-R wheels aren't ghetto however, the mustang rims just don't look right on a FC, its just.. ghetto.

Its like something you'll see driving through Oakland CA, locals will know what I mean.

What do I know, I thought that guy with the Prelude rims looked alright, but at Sevenstock I heard so many negative comments passing by it changed my mind.

looks wicked!

i think they look good on that car.

Need some better pics of that setup to be sure if its "ghetto" or that the rims stick out.

Those mustang rims are everywhere here so i might just pick up a set.

Paint em Gloss Black and Stick em on my Red 86.

It should look cool.

well later

I have to agree with neo. I don't think there is anything wrong with using wheels from other cars, but these I don't like. see, to me, these are 'trademark wheels.' If I saw most wheels off of the car, I wouldn't know where they were from (excluding maybe a 'MAZDA' symbol on it or something like that). but with these wheels, I know they're mustang wheels by look, because everyone has a mustang here. so even if they look decent and fit well, I wouldn't like them, because when I see them I think mustang. mustang and rx7 don't go together.

You heard negative comments?? That sucks...no one told me anything negative at Sevenstock. I hate when people talk **** behind peoples backs. I think my Prelude rims look better and newer than the White AE rims...plus they are only 16 pounds each. The only thing people don't like is that they're "Honda" rims. It's not like Honda even makes the rim; I've seen the imprinted logo on stock Nissan and Mazda Rims. Some people...feh.

Well, it's all good. I'm getting some Volk SE37K's anyway.

AE Turbo: I think they look good. Originality counts high with me. Not doing stuff for the sake of being different, but truly having original thoughts are cool. I've only seen those wheels on your 7 and H cars. Most people are lemmings that follow the rest of the pack all the while thinking they are being individuals. I don't claim to be all that original myself, but I will call a spade a spade. Too many people are snobs about manufacturers as well. They don't believe in mixing and matching automobile company parts. I say if it works well, go for it. It doesn't matter who made it even if it was never even meant for your car. All that matter is the end result. My wheels say "Nissan" on them near the center caps. So what?

Yea, quite a few, I passed the FC section several times and heard a lot of things, I even heard about it after I went back to SF, it was mentioned at a bay area bbq once or twice.

If its a common wheel to any car, thats when it bugs me, if its a special one found on a certain model it'd be nicer, I think. If you had SH wheels instead of base Prelude wheels it might not be so obvious. Good choice on the SE37K's btw.

I bet the Cobra rims would look good. I also think the Probe GT 5 spokes would look good (not the curved ones).

Im not sure if anyone said this already but the easyist way to get rid of the sticking out thing is to just cut ur axels or order shorter ones it dosn't take much, i did it to my '85 ranger in order to tubb it out (i ordered new axels because i needed stronger ones) and it didn't tahe too long, the front is a different story but u can order different width wheels they just won't be the ones from Ford, maybe Ford Racing makes some cool ones u all might likt or SVT but they can be fit well if its done right. 94+ = 5lug, -93 = 4 lug. The Steeda ultralights might look cool on a rex.
