Just curious. Someone told me they cant grip as well when you're pushing more boost.

 

i think he may be referring to the clutch.

 

The stock clutch doesnt hold on too well after a bit of modding. Not just on our cars, but on most cars on the market are like this (WARNING: IMO!)

The flywheel wont blow up unless it is a POS or you're pushing some major mods (Or some crazy RPM).

The lightweight flywheels really don't have any bearing on how much torque the car can hold. However, racing beat uses a "friction surface" on theirs that is replaceable if it wears out.. which is kinda like resurfacing the thing without taking it out of the car.

The one I have is the ACT street light 11.5 lbs, its clutch surface looks exactly like the stock one.

If you use a lightweight flywheel with the stock clutch, it may not hold as well because the stock clutch simply does not hold as much torque as an aftermarket. Also, you have to be a bit more sly with the clutch when taking off to keep the motor from stalling.

But, the flywheel itself doesn't do the holding, thats the pressureplate and clutch.

 

yeah, it confused me too when i was having the conversation because i was also under the impression that the clutch does the work. he's running single on his fd and he said something to the likes of a lighter flywheel wouldn't carry the load as well.

perhaps he was talking about the difference in physics between lightweight and stock - as the stock is much heavier it carries momentum and energy longer.

 

can aluminum wheels handle a titantium exhaust?
