Can keep it started
Ive recently bought a 1987 fc turbo II
Im having issues keeping the car running once it starts, after the car starts it starts it runs for about 15 seconds then dies on me. I can smell fuel in the air after it starts. I have 850cc injectors in the primaries and wondering if im flooding the engine before it can get to idle? Any body seen or run into problems like this before?

You need to provide more information. What would be helpful for a start is to know what has been done to the car/engine previously. For example, if the previous owner did an emissions delete, the car may be stalling due to lack of idle control.
Have you tried keeping the car running by applying throttle?

Engine details
The engine has had emmission deleted, turbonetics turbo, racing beat exhaust, 850cc injectors from aus injection, and it was street ported upon rebuild about 6k miles on it. The guy i had bought it from had no trouble starting it and driving it with me in the car, he didnt struggle to keep it idling, but did mention that the car can flood easy when starting. And avenue for ideas is greatly appreciated, thanks

Idles well
So i talked with the previous owner and he told me to begin cranking the engine then switch the fuel pump on with the throttle to the floor, it started up great and i held a slight rev for a few second unitl it began to idle at about 2 thousand on a cold start then slowly drops but not quite at 850rpm.
I think that starting it was a little tricky and i was running the fuel pump to long and flooding, ill spend more time troubleshooting before i hit the forum, thank you dc5 i really appreciated the quick responses

I'm glad you got it started...unfortunately what you experienced it all too common. A fuel pump switch is the oldest trick in the book for these cars, don't let anyone fool you into thinking it's normal or a "good" thing. It is usually indicative of injectors that are tired and need servicing.
Good luck with your car.
