Can I use a non-turbo exhaust manifold gasket on my T2?

I bought the non-turbo gasket kit for my T2 because everyone suggested to, but the exhaust manifold gasket in the kit is missing a small hole that goes on the rear rotor. Can I just punch a hole in the gasket? What is that hole for anyway?

Yes, you can use it, but it will not last as long. The hole is for EGR.
